This is my favorite outdoor spot in the valley! Making your way through the hundreds of trails you won't beleive your still in Las Vegas after seeing streams, meadows, red sands, and the amazing rock formations. For those who have been to Zion National Park in Utah there aren't many differences.
Outside of hiking trails their is horseback riding offered close by and a Junior naturalist program for toddlers and young children. Astrological viewings are also offered periodically in the evening. The junior naturalist program includes a presentation of flora and fauna in the visitor center and then a short hike with a scavenger hunt. (This is all free) after admission into the park.

Further into Red Rock Canyon is Bonnie Springs with her petting zoo, pony rides, and an old western town complete with western gunfight performances. At my last visit I learned "Bonnie" of Bonnie Springs is alive and well at 90 years old. You must check it out if you've never seen it.

And just past Bonnie Springs still in Red Rock Canyon is Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. With cooler temperatures this picnic area and Ranch museum is the home of the outdoor theatre performance group Super Summer Theatre. If I had a little girl I would have gone to the Beauty and the Beast performances they had in the beginning of the summer.

You can't say there's nothing to do in Las Vegas anymore!
